The Directorate of Education in Jerusalem

The Directorate of Education in Jerusalem, an extension of the Directorate that existed before the fifth of June 1967, which was run under the administration of the Jordanian Ministry of Education .The director of education at that time was Husni Al-Ashhab.
After seizing control of the Israeli military, they took control of the education sector in the same year and tried to impose their educational curricula.
This step promoted educators and parents to open schools in the residential buildings to continue education in the Jordanian curricula. The Directorate continued to provide services to the population, leading to empty schools which were run by the Israeli authorities and forced then to teach Arab Jordanian curriculum in the schools under its control.
The Directorate of Education is currently working under the umbrella of the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf and teaching the Palestinian curriculum in its schools. The Directorate of Education in Jerusalem offers its services to the people of the city and documents the grades of all students in Jerusalem, including the schools which are administered by the Israeli authorities.
